Today I woke up... as if that wasn't enough reason to be grateful I also woke up with a purpose, woke up with a job to go to, woke up fit and healthy, woke up knowing I'm surrounded by great family and friends, woke up in warm bed with a roof over my head in country that is one of the safest on earth. It truly is another day in paradise.
I know not everyone wakes up with all of these things so I make sure to be grateful for the more simple things that I can very often take for granted. And although not everyone has these things they can definitely acquire a few of them with just a little time and effort and one that is definitely worth your time is creating your purpose in this life. No, I don't think I've found my exact purpose but I sure am keeping busy trying to find it!

Purpose:
"The reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists"
For me, creating a purpose to wake up for everyday is done through goal setting. Setting goals gives each and every day a purpose because I know I am doing whatever it is, in order to reach that end goal whatever it may be. Get rid of your auto-pilot and create your purpose.
Set goals for different timeframes - daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, 5 years, 10 years
A few things to remember when setting goals:
Have a go at doing this and I'll share my goals with you in my next post. Don't be deceived by the power of setting goals. And one last thing, if there's one book I would want every person to read it would be The Monk who sold his Ferrari, do yourself a favour and invest in this book!
"Never forget the importance of living with unbridled exhilaration. Never neglect to see the equisite beauty in all living things. Today, and this very moment, is a gift. Stay focused on your purpose. The universe will take care of everything else."

- Set aside some time to think about what is that you truly want to achieve. Close your eyes and envision the life you want to live - who is there? what do you do for work? How do you feel? where do you live? what do you do for fun? There is no limit on this, imagine exactly the life you want to live.
- Write down all the things you imagined
- This is where the fun starts - you can have everything you imagined. Just write it down in clearly defined goals. Remember that a goal is specific, it has a timeline and it can be measured. (e.g. I run 3 half marathons this year in under 2 hours).

A few things to remember when setting goals:
- Have a clear vision of your outcome
- Create positive pressure (a good way is a public pledge - tell everyone you know and you won't want to give up and look like a fool)
- Never set a goal without attaching a timeline to it
- A goal is not a goal if it's not written down on paper
- Perform the new activity for 21days in a row
