4 Weeks exactly until race day! Time is ticking by extremely fast, I have now had several dreams about my trip including forgetting my suitcase, doing the triathlon in the wrong order and also sleeping in and missing the race... fair to say race day is on my mind haha.
A little training update - I'm putting a lot of quality into my sessions and doing my best to hit all target times, my iPod is my best friend with some tunes to push me through my toughest workouts. Most days I'm eager to get out and smash it but there are still the rare days where my bed is so much more appealing than a 5am start, however the goal is in mind and there's not long to go! This weekend coming I have a race simulation down in Wellington which will be great to get me in the racing zone. The countdown is on!
On another note here is a little write up about my love hate relationship with swimming.
Growing up I was a competitive swimmer, this involved about 10 sessions per week and school holidays could be translated to training camp. I was a little dramatic the day I finished up swimming saying something along the lines of 'You will never ever catch me getting up at 5am to come to the stupid pool to stare at a black line again!' well what do you know... here I am only 4 years later and I am doing just that. I like to think I'm a little less dramatic than my 18 year old self as I now do this completely out of my love of triathlon!
If you have never spent a fair amount of time plodding up and down a pool this will enlighten you into the sexiness that is swimming. I don't want to just leave you with a bunch of problems so I have also included solutions!

Pull buoys
what it's used for - a floating device that you place between your thighs that stops you from being able to kick.
Added features - wedges itself in between the thickest part of your thigh and rubs back and forth as you rotate in order to give you a rash between your thighs that will never really heal because of how often you use it. unless you have stick thin legs you will then adopt a waddle so that they do not continue to rub with every step you take.
